  • Great Response at UK Stroke Forum 2022 for Medical Technologies Apoplexy SRA® Procedure for Stroke Risk Analysis
  • Telemedicine screening method already in use in around 240 stroke units across Europe in automated secondary stroke prevention: Imperial College Charing Cross Hospital implements SRA®

Pirmasens and Liverpool, 2 December 2022. Consistently positive results from clinical use of SRA® (stroke risk analysis) in around 240 strokes across Europe led to a high level of response at the apoplex medical technologies booth at UK Stroke Forum 2022, which concluded Yesterday.

The stroke prevention specialist considers the UK market to be of great strategic importance. Earlier this year, a study[1] conducted at the renowned Imperial College London in the context of SRA® established the high medical relevance of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (pAF) detection using algorithm-based ECG analyses. Additionally, Charing Cross Hospital, part of Imperial College, is currently implementing the same SRA® in its stroke unit.

The UK Stroke Forum (UKSF) is regarded as the largest and most important multidisciplinary conference for stroke doctors in the UK. Apoplex Medical Technologies last attended UKSF at their last face-to-face event in 2019; due to the pandemic, the company did not participate in the virtual events that took place in the meantime.

“The excellent response to our participation in Liverpool underlined the particular value of being able to have face-to-face conversations,” says Mihir Vyas, UK Sales Director at apoplex medical technologies. „The pandemic prevented this for two years, but of course regardless of that, the number of cases in stroke units has not decreased – and behind every prevention of a secondary accident there is a patient helped.“

[1] The study highlights the high importance of the detection of TIAs (transient ischemic attacks) to prevent further TIAs and strokes, as well as the high importance of the immediate use of procedures such as SRA® for automatic continuous ECG monitoring in TIA patients, both in terms of AF detection rate and the risk of having a TIA or stroke again within 6 months.
