- Nominations can come from members of the public wishing to celebrate their NHS heroes or from nurses themselves

December 22, London: Brits looking to spread the festive cheer this Christmas can do so by recognizing their nursing heroes and their invaluable contribution to healthcare across the UK. The public is given the chance to enter nurses who have gone above and beyond their duty of care, in the quest to find the best nurse in the world.
Aster Global Nursing Award
There are two paths to nominations. Members of the public can introduce their nursing heroes, who will then be notified and given the opportunity to complete their entry. Alternatively, nurses can apply directly. One global winner will receive more than £200,000 in prize money.
Created by the leading integrated global healthcare provider, Aster DM Healthcare, the awards recognize the immense role nurses play in the NHS, global health systems and society as a whole. Applications are open to the public for Registered Nurses across the UK with applications closing on 10 January 2023.
2023 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Awards they are the largest in the world. By honoring our champions of compassion, they recognize the phenomenal contribution of nurses to the NHS and global health. The winner will be announced on International Nurses Day 2023 (12 May) at a ceremony in London.
Last year’s winner, Kenyan nurse Anna Qabale Duba was chosen from 24,000 other nurses by a grand jury of leading health experts. Anna founded a school in her home village of Torbi, to promote literacy and has been recognized for her outstanding efforts in the campaign against child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). Using Aster Guardian prize money, Anna founded the Qabale Duba Foundation which educates parents across Kenya on major sexual and reproductive health issues.
Nominations will be judged by a grand jury composed of Prof. Sheila Tlou, co-chair of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition; Dr J Carolyn Gomes, External Relations Special Advisor, ProActividad; Howard Cattan, chief executive of the International Council of Nurses (ICN); Prof. James Buchan of the WHO Nursing Collaborating Centre.

The Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award was first announced on International Nurses Day 2021 as a group initiative to recognize the contributions of nurses to humanity and the healthcare community. The inaugural awards ceremony was held in Dubai on International Nurses Day in May 2022.
